PUMPKIN! PUMPKIN! PUMPKIN! The fall season is finally here and along with it comes the holiday season. Nothing says it’s the holiday season better than having a cup of  pumpkin spice latte with a slice of pumpkin bread. Starbucks pumpkin bread in my opinion has to be hands down the best pumpkin bread out there. Here I show you how easy  is to make your own Starbucks Pumpkin Bread without having to breaking the piggy bank.  (I also show you how much of an unorganized cook I actually am)

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

  •  1/2 cup roasted and salted pumpkin seeds ( They serve them with the seeds at Starbucks)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

In a medium bowl sift all your dry ingredients together, flour, baking soda, salt, sugar, and pumpkin pie spice. In a smaller bowl beat two eggs before adding the pumpkin puree,  oil, and the vanilla. Once the liquid ingredients are mixed pour your mixture over the dry ingredients. Make sure to stir until all lumps are out but make sure not to over stir your mixture. Pour the mixture onto a loaf pan that has been sprayed with non-stick spray.

Optional: Once the mixture is on the pan you can sprinkle the roasted pumpkin seeds on top of bread.

Bake for 50 – 60 minutes (depending on your oven) Make sure to *toothpick test your loaf.

Cool for 7- 10 minutes in the pan, before removing.

* Toothpick Test is when you insert a toothpick in the middle of your loaf.

If the toothpick comes out clean that means your loaf is done.

cdfd2c5ef5a43994765cf79a2bdf51de View PostDay of the dead is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated throughout Latin America and the United States. It is the day that we pay our respect for all those souls that have passed on and left this world. Many people celebrate this holiday by making altars filled with colorful flowers and food as offerings either in their home or on the graves of the deceased. While others celebrate by dressing up in vibrate clothes and painted skulls on their faces. It’s a day to celebrate the life of those who could know longer be with us. A time to reminisce with friends and family.

Things You Need:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Pair of scissors
  • A headband (If you buy a headband with a bow or anything on top of it make sure to remove it for this project)
  • Fake Flowers (Depending on the look your going you can choose as many or as little colors as you want)

The beauty of this project is that it is super affordable to make. I went to my local Dollar Tree Store and bought everything you see here expect for my glue gun. If you do not have a Dollar Tree check out your local 99 cent store instead. I spent a total of $3.00 making my day of the dead headband. A head band that normally runs $20 and over.

You start off by cutting or pull all the flowers from the steams. Then you just glue them on to your headband. It’s just that easy!

Check out the video below for a more detail view on how I made my headband.

Top 10 Most Unique & Fun Gender Reveals

Is it a boy or a girl?!? As soon as you announce your pregnancy that’s the first thing on people’s minds.  With all the excitement to learn a baby’s gender it’s becoming more and more common for parents to through a gender reveal party. Here are some unique and fun ideas to try out for your next gender reveal party or even your next pregnancy photo shoot.

1. Pull String Pinata:

Hands down this is my favorite photo shoot idea for a gender reveal. There are so many different pinatas out there or you can even make your own. Just get a pinata fill it with pink or blue cut up papers and pull the string!  Want to add some excitement? Tell the doctor to write the sex of the baby on a piece of paper, give the paper to a relative or a close friend and have them stuff the pinata, that way it will be as  much as a surprise to you as it is for everyone else.

2.  Pink or Blue Scratchy Lotto Tickets:

Everyone loves getting scratchy lottery tickets but who knew they made some to reveal a baby’s gender!

3. Gender Revealing Candles:

These candles are pretty cool. When you light up the candle the wax will start to melt and change colors turning either blue or pink. This would be a great idea to send out to friends and family that don’t live close by.

4. Deserts:

This has to be the most delicious of all the ideas. There are so many ways that you can do a gender reveal using yummy deserts. Stuff your favorite dessert with pink or blue filling.  Or make the inside of a cake pink or blue using food coloring watch as everyone looks in amazement while you cute the first slice

5. Gender Reveal Fuzz:

All you do is throw this heart shape fuzz ball into some water and watch as the water fizzes and turns pink for girl or blue for boy.

6. Bubble Gum:

What better way to tell everyone the gender of your baby then by slapping the crap out of your partner! I mean by gently popping your partners bubble gum reveal your baby’s gender.

7. The Black Ballon:

I don’t know if it is my fear of popping balloons that makes me not like this idea but it’s definitely a unique idea. The fun thing with using a black balloon is you can pop it in many different ways. Like a with a cross-bow if your into that kind of thing.

8. Bow or Bow Tie on Sonogram:

With baby showers and preparing the house sometimes there is no time to have a party. Adding a bow or bow tie to your sonogram makes a great picture to send out to friends and family and with Facebook, twitter and Instagram you can save on the postage.

9. Hand Paint:

Siblings are just as excited to know the gender of the baby as parents are. What better way to get them involved then throwing some paint on their tiny little hands and putting it on mommies belly. The shirt will make an excellent addition to your baby keep sake box.

10. Confetti Poppers:

There inst any funnier way to reveal the gender of your baby then with confetti poppers. Make sure to have a camera handy when everyone at your party pops them at the same time. It will make a great picture to save for your babies album.

All these ideas can either be store-bought or by made at home even the scratchy lotto tickets!! Which ever way you decide to reveal the gender to your friends and family make sure to make it grand and  take lots of pictures.

Frijoles & Frescas at Las Vegas

This past weekend we ended up at Las Vegas, you know how these things go, you get that inch to go drink and gamble all night and you just go wherever the wind takes you. But we actually just had a baby shower out there that’s why we went.  So as soon as I knew we were headed out to Vegas I knew we had to stop at Frijoles and Frescas Mexican restaurant. Not evening caring if the food at there was good or not I  knew I had to stop at there just to at least say I went. The reason why Frijoles and Frescas is so special is because the owner is the one and only Arthur Trejo, if you’re not familiar with Arthur Trejo he is an International Latin Sex Symbol. Not really. He is actually just this white guy that makes YouTube videos that lives in Vegas. His restaurants have been such a success that they just opened up their second branch. Go Arthur!

Frijoles, is not your mothers Mexican food and for once that’s a good thing!  I grew up in a house that there was always beans and a pack of lard in the fridge ready for any family meal. The food my mom would serve up was amazing but it would always leave me feeling a bit slugish. At Frijoles they are doing Mexican food right. I ordered the pork  burritos (al pastor) and my husband went a little nontraditional and order carne asada fries.  The meat was super tender and not greasy at all which is hard to find when eating Mexican. I wish we would have taken after pictures to see how we cleaned out our plates. I actually even ate the wrapping. Okay I didn’t but that’s just how much I want to express how delicious their food is. They have a variety of food and classic Mexican drinks to choose from. Aside from the food the next biggest thing that has to be on point at a Mexican restaurant is there salsa and they did not disappoint. Both red and green were delicious.  I would prefer more burn to them but that’s just me. If it doesn’t burn coming out it’s just not worth it right? Is that just me? Okay moving along….

Frijoles has a unique decor. What makes it unique is that it’s actually nice. They took the time and made sure every small detail was covered. From the fixtures on the ceiling to the unique Spanish signs for the restrooms. The staff was courteous and inviting and everyone looked like they were actually happy to be there which is rare to find anywhere. The cashier taking our orders spoke fluent Spanish and English which is actually great to have at a Mexican restaurant to make customers feel more comfortable when ordering.

Ignore the screaming child. I know we do.

Off topic, I want these ceilings for my kitchen

The moment I knew this place had won me over was when I was about to leave and noticed that they sold ICE CREAM!!!  I swear after I eat Mexican I always feel like having something sweet and with Vegas weather who doesn’t walk out of that place with an ice cream cone. As you can tell I am not a food blogger by any means but what I am is Mexican and I know Mexican food and Frijoles delivers just that. Oh I wonder if they deliver? If you can’t make the drive to Vegas to try the food at least make your way over to Arthur Trejo YouTube channel to check out his videos. He isn’t posting many new ones lately since the opening of his second restaurant but he’s videos are still worth checking out.

Day at the OC Zoo

Recently I have had mix emotions about places like Zoos and Sea World type of attractions. On one side I feel like those types of place can offer great learning opportunities for children. Kids get to learn and interact with animals that they normally wouldn’t be able to. Some kids develop a passion for helping animals by going and visiting these attractions. In the other hand I feel that the whole concept of captivity seems so cruel. There are so many animal attractions that neglect and endanger the lives of the animals that they attain. Not to say that all  places are like this but this is a disturbing trend that seems to be emerging more and more.

So when the subject of taking our daughter to a zoo came up I was torn. I don’t want to contribute to these places but at the same time I don’t want to my daughter to miss out on so many educational experiences. (I know she is not even a year old but still) Luckily I was able to find the OC Zoo which is a more of an animal rescue safe haven then a zoo. The OC Zoo has been taking in animals that normally wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild since 1920.

Day at the Zoo 3

They have so many types of animals from reptiles, birds, bears, and even a bob cats! They have a couple of goats that you are able to feed. The animal keepers are always close by offering fun facts about the animals around you. If your lucky you can even catch a couple out of their cages.

Day at the Zoo 12

Olive pretty much was excited to see most animals expected the goat which was okay because the goat didn’t really seem excited to see her either.

Day at the Zoo 11

The great thing about coming to the OC Zoo is that the general admission is only $2 for anyone over the age of 3. With general admission you can walk freely through the zoo. For only a couple bucks more you an opt for their guided tour or one of their other programs. Either way you’re looking at a great bargain.

Day at the Zoo 6 Day at the Zoo 5

Besides all the animals they also have other great activities for the kids. We were able to catch story time right as it was starting. Olive was able to learn all about owls and then she was able to see a tiny owl while all the other kids asked all their questions.

Day at the Zoo 8

All the staff members are super friendly to everyone especially to the children. They would answer all of the kids questions no matter how crazy some of the questions were and never made the kids feel as if it was a dumb question. I can not say enough good things about the staff at the OC Zoo.

Day at the Zoo 1

Make sure to get there early because you will discover that once your done with the zoo there are plenty of other activities that you can do at the Irvine Regional Park where the Zoo is located. We didn’t expect there to be so many different activities so we were prepared to have Olive out in the sun so long. Instead we just walked around checking everything out for our next trip there.

Day at the Zoo 2 Day at the Zoo 9

Besides all the great hiking paths around the park you can also enjoy bike riding with the family or riding on the lake.

Day at the Zoo 4

Don’t forget to check out the train ride that goes through the whole park. Great Summer fun for the whole family.

If you want any more information regarding this park
